25 modest steps towards a learning organization 


Switch it On is a toolkit composed of 25 handy one page job-aids meant to be used in one-on-one situations, in teams, projects, or in organizational settings where different stakeholders are involved in a creative dialogue. All job-aids are designed to contribute in some way to develop a learning culture in your organization, a trigger for innovation, inclusion and shared leadership.
The job-aids aim at simple interventions, not a complete cultural overhaul, but nevertheless produce some leverage into organizational learning, constructive dialogue, innovation and change. The toolkit can be used to support all kinds of activities in your organization : teambuilding, learning networks, project meetings, etc...
The toolkit is available for individual professionals, teamleaders as well as for OD/HR directors willing to use it company wide. We offer the toolkit in three formats :

  • A Hardcopy version
  • The Online version in a PDF format for individual use only
  • Licenses allowing organizations to distribute the tools on their Intranet & internal Social Networks
    The licence can cover the organization wide distribution as well as the full customization of the toolkit with possible changes in content, integration of company tools, layout,
    corporate image, logo, languages, etc...  To help you customize the tools and toolkit, Move! offers design support and consulting services.

Building a Learning Culture in your Organization is a continuous and laborious process.  On the other hand, in every working relationship, one-on-one, in teams, projects, in how to deal with stakeholders etc... very easy and small things can be done to enhance 'organizational learning'.  It is about co-creation, dialogue, challenge, innovation, autonomy and inclusion, sense of belonging, contribution to a shared purpose. 
Switch it On, provides one page job-aids to help supervisors, coaches, team members, internal facilitators, HR coaches, OD & Change consultants, etc... to use simple methodology in their day to day activities and in doing so, trigger organizational learning.  We focus in this toolkit on things you can do by yourself and don't need sophisticated facilitation skills.  For more organizational wide 'culture change efforts' we suggest you contact Move! for advice and assistance.

A few examples of things you can already do in your organization with some help of our 'job-aids' :

  1. When project teams systematically document their learnings in an AFTER ACTION REVIEW, they share their experience and new insights not only with the members and stakeholders of their project team, but make it also available for other projects, ongoing or future one's.
  2. When teamleaders use a COACHING approach to work with their team members they stimulate autonomy, ownership and learning of their staff.  Using the GROW model keeps the coaching session focused and effectively structured.
  3. When managers sit in cross functional INTERVISION groups, they don't only share their learning and experience, they also challenge each other and help each other think out of the box and reflect on alternative ways to cope with new challenges
  4. Involving stakeholders in doing an effective environmental scan, PESTEL will allow you to identify the challenges for your organizations and COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE would be helpful in designing solutions to cope with those new challenges.

What's in the Toolkit ?

The 25 job-aids can be ordered in three groups : Those for use in One-on-One situations such as coaching, individual feedback, et...  Those that support teamwork such as Responsibility Matrix, Brainstorming, etc... And then you have those aiming at organizational dialogue and shared ambition such as Communities of Practice, Environmental Scan and Stakeholder Management.  In reality they often overlap between two or even the three categories.
